Yesterday at Madison Park Beach we saw a man wearing a giant pizza slice costume, walking around on the sand to promote the local Mad Pizza shop. He looked hot and uncomfortable since it was sunny and 80-something degrees.
Emi: "The pizza man is going to go swimming in the water!"
Me: "Emi, he can't go swimming in the water; his costume would get all wet."
Emi: "He will dry off with a towel ... no, he will dry off with a paper napkin! He is a pizza!"
Tuck (in a singsong voice): "Bye bye pizza man! See you later!" (Hilarious laughter.)
Emi (in a singsong voice): "Bye bye pizza man! See you later!" (Hilarious laughter.)
The kids are talking to each other a lot more all of a sudden, and laughing over incomprehensible jokes. This morning at the breakfast table, Emi was trying to teach Tuck how to make his half-pancake into a moon. Like this: "Tucker, this is how you make a moon pancake. You hold it up in the 'ky (sky)." She sounded exactly like me.
Or like James -- who once, in Japan, took it upon himself to explain to me how to use a serrated grapefruit spoon, until I looked him in the eyes and said, "Are you seriously trying to instruct me in how to use a SPOON?" (Hilarious laughter.)
